Guide · the domain ramp
A receiver cannot tell a test from a campaign. It is a real email out of a real inbox on a real domain, so CraftNudge counts it against the same numbers, at both levels.
A test of a step to your own address comes out of the inbox's daily allowance and out of the warmup number of the domain it sits on. So does each seed address in an inbox placement test. When either number is spent the button is refused with the reason, and nothing goes out. A domain in its first week at five a day cannot be used for ten tests.
A test writes no send record, moves no lead through the sequence, and never goes to the lead whose variables it borrows. It goes to the address you are logged in with, with [test] in the subject. Placement tests carry no tracking and no unsubscribe link, so they look like the real thing to the filter and stay out of every campaign's numbers.
Because the ramp only works if the domain's real volume is the volume it enforces. Ten tests on a domain allowed five a day would be a burst a receiver sees and the ramp does not, which is the exact thing the ramp exists to prevent. The test counters live on the server, so a finger on the button cannot get round them by refreshing the page.
Two workspaces can have inboxes on the same domain name. Their test counts are kept apart, so one workspace's tests never eat the other's day.
